Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Metalenz is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer with strong background in bringing new products into production.

About us

Metalenz is a growing venture backed startup spun out of Harvard University. Founded in 2016 Metalenz is developing next generation sensing systems for consumer electronics with revolutionary metasurface technology. Built on a foundational innovation in meta-optics from Harvard, our technology enables significant reduction in the complexity and size of optical modules while improving system performance and moving optics manufacturing into the semiconductor foundry.

What you’ll do

  • Work collaboratively with design, engineering and applications teams to prepare our novel metasurface optics for manufacturing.
  • Support new product development from initial prototype, through validation and reliability testing and into an offshore volume manufacturing environment.
  • Work with external vendors and Engineering team to transfer production test and methods to offshore location(s).
  • Work with Quality and external vendors to scope and execute reliability testing to support new products and ongoing quality management.
  • Support of product ramp through frequent vendor interaction. Ongoing improvement of manufacturability, yield and fulfillment consistency by working with vendors and influencing upstream design and wafer processing methods.
  • A mix of vendor management, hands-on testing, in-person manufacturing support as products transition through their life-cycle.

What you’ll need

  • BS or MS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or related scientific or engineering field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a semiconductor or optics role. Expertise in manufacturing engineering, characterization or reliability testing are all valued.
  • Experience with semiconductor reliability stress methods and failure analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six-Sigma approaches to continuous improvement.
  • Experience with statistical analysis of production measurement data such as Cp, Cpk and gauge studies. Familiar with common statistical analysis tools such as Excel and JMP.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, optics, optical sensors, VCSELS, and/or embedded cameras desirable.

What we do

  • Work with consumer electronic OEMs and their suppliers to commercialize meta-optics
  • Design next-generation optical systems for emerging consumer applications like 3D sensing
